Conversations with God – Part II

Beneath your feet, I find my place
a plea for forgiveness on my lips,
unworthy

Lost in the vastness of your creation
I seek a curve,
a corner to call mine

This world you’ve spun—
I cannot embrace
anguish threads itself,
living for you, a weighty crown

You’ve woven dreams from my wishes,
answered my cries with paths of light
the devil recedes upon your presence,
liberation soon,
punishment for
those who wrested portions of me away
you’ve brought justice,
made them pay

Life, you've taught me,
a lesson in each sunrise
yet heartache, an unbearable tide,
washes over the shores
crashes and collides

I've lived through countless histories,
nightly, she laments nameless lovers
dreams scarred by traumas
he denied—
of the abuser,
the one you promised to chastise

Then,
why, dear God, does he return?

My life, a battlefield of apologies,
disrespect and strife - I cannot control
hatred festers, defying the innocence
of strangers

I beg you, save or end my plight,
don’t abandon me to desperate nights
though I stray, I apologize
my ancestors’ tears, a river of shame
for my weakened fight
