Abbreviate bravery, calamity Don’t endorse fallacies, Great honour, idiocy. Juggle killers; leaders Might not oppose pandemonium. Queries, rivalries, sanctuaries To unknown victims We X Yelping zeniths
This is an abecedarian poem— A poem organized by using the alphabet. The central theme revolves around war and its atrocity across a nation. In just a few lines, it exposes the horrors associated with blindly following a leader.
I would like to spend a few moments discussing the current events between Russia and Ukraine. I understand how sensitive this topic is, and I believe that war shouldn’t be a solution for conflicts.
As my blog readers know, I have witnessed war for the greater part of my life. Not only that, my mother is a product of a war-torn country, so I understand how cruel it can be on both sides.
My prayers go out to civilians in both countries as this war isn’t something they’ve chosen. The unfortunate reality is that we have no agency in how a conflict between politicians plays out. However, we do have the ability to educate each other and help people. It starts with a prayer, a post or just a conversation. Don’t ever assume that your part in the fight for peace is minuscule; every voice matters.
No one deserves to experience war. It’s frightening, confusing and absolutely disgusting. My heart goes out to Ukraine, to the people and the ones caught in the middle of a tragic fight.
That being said, I can’t help but think about the Middle East.
Where was this attention when Syria was bombed this year? Why didn’t people talk about the children in Ghaza being detained? What happened to this support when Lebanon was falling apart?
It’s been tough, mainly because of the unsettling news about Ukraine, but also because this is another horrifying reminder that no one cares about the Middle East.
We grew up with war, which is still going on, and the west celebrated our pain.
I’m not implying that Ukraine doesn’t deserve our attention and help, I’m simply reflecting on the fact that Arab children never got this support. So, while you post about Ukraine, can you spare a minute to read about Palestine? Share its name. Doesn’t it deserve the same attention?
And this goes for each civilian in every country. Ignorance is the most dangerous weapon, so our duty as inhabitants of this Earth is to educate ourselves and keep fighting for a better place.
Don’t ignore an issue because you were never taught about it, don’t dismiss a war because it’s been going on for long, don’t pick sides based on what your parents told you. Please, don’t ever abandon the people.
I completely agree with you! This degree has introduced me to a world of history and culture. Thank you for…
I hear your conundrum; I too suffer from a ‘title’ that doesn’t pay the mortgage…Beowulf, Dante’s Inferno, Canterbury Tales are…
Welcome
Thank you!
Good stuff.
